![]() ![]() Unfortunately, the Charlane Harris book series is filled with a ton of meandering plotlines that all sort of blend together to produce one long story with very little payoff. As most who've read the books have noticed, things on the HBO series are "different, but the same." People usually wind up where they wind up in the books, just taking an alternate, more elaborate route to get there. There's a tricky line that this series has to walk in trying to appease both fans of the book series and a TV audience who just wants a good, gripping TV series. ![]() ![]() As per usual, True Blood managed to get us excited about a number of things mid-season, only to fumble the ball in the endzone. Holly and Arlene entered into a pagan-witch blood pact, it seemed to go awry, and then we never learned anything more about it. King Russell promised to eat our children, and then he didn't. There were wolves, and then there weren't. Note: There are spoilers for the entirety of True Blood: Season 3 in this review. ![]()
